Geography

Central Texas has many hills, lakes, and rivers. There are forests and plains with the majority of the area covered with trees and bushes, with scattered cactus.

Climate

The climate is generally hot to mildly cold with a few days of extremely cold weather during the year. Winters are generally cool to cold with the temperature changing from week to week. Temperatures are generally cool to cold during December, usually warmer in January, with frequent warm spells in the 80s. February is usually colder, especially towards the end of the month with the cold weather going into mid-March. There is often a final winter storm in late February or the beginning of March. From mid-March the temperature warms up to a warm usually sunny spring. Summers get hot especially in July and August with frequent strings of 30 days or more of 100 degree weather. The end of spring and the beginning of summer usually brings a lot of rain with the late summers normally dry, often with little or no rain in July and August. The hot weather continues through about mid-September when things start cooling off as well. Mid to late September also brings much needed rain to the area after the dry end of summer. October and November are generally warm to mildly cool.
