Seguin, Texas

Seguin is located in Guadalupe county in the southern part of Central Texas. It is the county seat. The Guadalupe River runs though the town and provides city water and recreation. Seguin is a historic town.

It is within an hour's drive of the majority of two major metropolitan areas, San Antonio and Austin. Both San Antonio and Austin have major airports (SAT and AUS), many shopping malls and centers, museums, symphony orchestras, parks, and other big city conveniences. Austin has a lot of specialty shopping and dining. San Antonio has a lot of historic activity and dining. Both cities have plenty of shows an events for everyone.

San Antonio has 3 major military bases including Randolph Air Force Base (30 minutes away), Fort Sam Houston (45 minutes away), and Lackland Air Force Base (roughly an hour away). There is also a complete Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio. San Antonio also has two major theme parks including Sea World and Fiesta Texas. Main attractions include the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and for some, the San Antonio Spurs basketball team.

Austin is the state capital and home to the University of Texas. There is also a complete Veterans Health Care System in Temple, located roughly an hour north of Austin.

Seguin is also less than a 3 hour drive to Houston which has big city shopping and dining, major league sports teams, a shipping port, NASA, Astroworld, and other attractions.

It is also less than a 3 hour drive to the Texas coast including Corpus Christi and Padre Island. The Texas coastal area has plenty of fun for everyone including beaches, boating, fishing, bird watching, hiking, camping, and other activities. There is also a Naval Air Station.

There are many historic towns, including Gonzales, around the area offering historic buildings, museums, local events, antiques, shopping, and dining. Nearby Lockhart offers great Texas Barbecue. Further out, Fredericksburg offers a German heritage with great food and shopping, and locally brewed beer and wine.

There are a variety of bed and breakfasts and wineries in the area offering cozy getaways and wine tasting.

There is a large agricultural industry in the area with cattle and produce covering much of the area.

Local Seguin newspapers include the Gazette-Enterprise and the Seguin Daily News, put out by KWED Radio. Other local area papers include the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung, the Austin American-Statesman, and San Antonio Express News.

Local radio stations include KWED Radio 1580 Seguin and KGNB 1420 New Braunfels. San Antonio and Austin radio stations can also be picked up in the area.

Telephone and DSL internet services are handled in the area primarily by AT&T. Mobil phone service is provided primarily by the standard companies: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

Cable television and internet service is provided by Time Warner Communications. Local television access is from San Antonio.
